Competition

Why are we getting rid of competition in the world? people are saying kids shouldn't be called winners or losers in sports and i am left to say why not? There are winners and losers everyday in lives and all that competition does it make the people who lose try harder.

No one wants to lose but even if people try and get rid of it there will still be competition. You know why? because there is people like me who will go to sports games and i will keep track of the score and when the game is over i will yell it. If a team scores 11 goals and the other team scores 0 well its kind of obvious who won.

Just like in video games there needs to be competition. Instances need to be done with, you need to be able to race for the boss not this pre-set raid time because you will just enter an instance. Competition makes everyone better and if you don't like competition than you are a loser.

Everquest 1 emulator

Everquest is a game we all should be familiar with; It is a game that helped bring MMOs( massively multplayer online) to where they are today. The game was made by a developer who was known to be on a cocaine binge most of the time the game was being made but i guess that help explains how the game got to be where it is today.

Everquest was released to gamers in 1999 and is still being played today. There are live servers which are servers hosted by SOE and has up to 17 expansions right now enabled and there are servers hosted on emulators. If you are on the internet reading this you know what emulators are so i will just save some time and not explain them but i will explain some things you may want to know.

You may be an Everquest 1 fan sitting there hoping for a game to come along and grab your fancy or you could not have heard of it until now but it is possible to play Everquest 1 right now for free. A website that can be found at http://www.eqemulator.org/ allows individuals to play the game that they loved for free. There you will be able to find information on servers, files needed and walkthroughs on how to get the gaming going.

To save you some time searching if you are after a server that replicates Everquest 1 servers you will want to go to www.project1999.org it does its best to duplicates live. All things found on the server is based off the knowledge of the developers and its community, if a person finds information elsewhere that shows the server to have false information then it gets changed. The main people behind this server are known as Rogean and Nilbog these two do an amazing job at tracking down hackers as well. Recently over 300 accounts were banned for using programs like macroquest and showeq. Multi-boxing is also not allowed so you are forced to group with others.

Another server is the EZserver which has a website at www.ezserveronline.com . Now this server is the exact opposite of project1999 it has content that was developed by the host of the server and does not follow live at all. There are raids but most just multi-box 12 characters or more to advance through everything. Instances are also on this server so you are not waiting for mobs and allows for you to use your time doing what you want to do.

There are numerous other servers that you are able to choose from also if none of these strike your fancy, solo servers included. If you need any help at all setting up the emulator or any questions just leave a comment.

Gaming is getting easier?

Now hear me out before you get all mad because i am not calling gaming easy and that anyone is able to do it. People can pick up a game and play it yes but to be in the top raiding guilds or to win first person shooter matches it takes special people to be able to pull it off. Dedication to the game, to the people they are with and the skill to pull it off is what is needed.

Now what i am getting at by saying gaming is getting easier is the market is starting to go towards the casual gamers instead of the hardcore gamers. Remember Everquest 1? The game had raid mobs that were up once a week or the epic quests mobs that sometimes would not even spawn that week if it skipped its spawn. If a raid mob popped in Everquest 1 and there were other trackers in that zone in competing guilds you would be forced to race for the raid mob. If you messed up or died while clearing to it you are most likely losing that mob and forced to grab your corpses.

Even World of Warcraft is getting easier, yes it does take skill to do the fights but there is maybe one or two fights that are truly challenging. Most just involve moving out of the circle the boss puts on the ground or killing an add not really that hard at all. Now i'm not trying to take away anyone's accomplishments but i would like anyone to post how the game is getting harder. The raid's used to be 40 man raids now they are at 10 and 25 mans? half the difficulty of raiding is finding people who don't suck.

Games are being aimed more towards kids which nothing is wrong with it at all they can sell more that way but even shooters are getting bland.  Shooters used to be glorious maps where you would be lucky if you saw it all and now they are call of duty black ops ( horrible game) and battlefield where there are way to many vehicles.

Games these days blech.

Hackers!

This is not a rant about hackers but a rant about how i am getting sick and tired of people these days calling hacks on anyone and everyone. This crap is getting annoying and just makes the person calling someone a hacker look stupid.

Yes there are hackers out there but not as many as people think there is. If someone shoots your in a FPS and you do not know how you died then i would suggest not calling hacks. Unless you are first person speccing a individual then you can start but prepare to back it up instead of just saying he hacks cause he killed you.

Numerous times people will call someone a hacker just because he catches some good luck and is just in the right position at the right time, or else they are camping. Just waiting for the people to come after him and they are only watching a select area.

If you also are getting destroyed and calling someone a hacker just do everyone a favor especially to yourself and leave the game and find a new server to join. If every server you are joining has a "hacker" in it i suggest enabling punkbuster or joining a server that has anti hack systems enabled. If you run into "hackers" daily then i do not think they are hacking but that you are just a spazz calling individuals hackers for being better than you.

Modern Warfare 3 Social Integration

Now lately i am finding games lacking in certain aspects be it advertisement, multiplayer maps or even just the game not feeling right. Often the maps are just way to small like in modern warfare 2 or the maps are to big like in battlefield 2. Least on battlefield 2 you can control your server size to fit the map. Games are starting to take away focus on important aspects and targeting them towards wastes of time that should not even be talked about.

If you haven't by chance heard Modern Warfare 3 is bringing out facebook integration into its game. Now i know there are others like me out there who are not a fan of facebook but are merely using it because others are using it. To me this is the biggest waste of time to even code a game to allow. Instead of using friends lists that all past games have used or other features you are going to be able to use facebook to do private matches with.

Facebook should not be connected to games. This is just another example of developers taking the wrong directions with games and not being in touch with what games really need. If Everquest 1 can make it big with the lead developer being on a massive cocaine binge then why can't these games just focus on the game play and maps instead of useless addons.

Gamers

I have no idea how i am going to start the blog off so i figured i would just start talking and see how it all comes together. I have been a gamer for most of my life and have found some interesting things out about the video games we play online to the players we play with.

This blog is mainly about that to talk about and bring memories of events that have happened in video games that you can't believe happened to just random events that made you shake your head. If you play video games you probably agree with the statement that people are more ruthless online than in person. Behind a screen people have a username to keep there identity a secret so people's true character comes out when ninja looting takes place or when drama happens which tends to happen in every game.

People say they hate drama but it is everywhere. I have seen guilds in Everquest 2 be destroyed because the guild leader and his wife met with their guild mates in Vegas and while the guild leader was sleeping the wife was off with the main tank and other members. On YouTube if you search "Serenity Now" a World of Warcraft guild goes to a zone where a funeral is taking place and kills off everyone that was attending.

These games take us to our limits sometimes, if you have played Everquest 1 you would remember the camp times for items in that game. People used to get furious, would threaten your life and your family because you may have killed a mob that they wanted or even worse if you beat them to a raid mob before them.

So i guess we will see how this blog goes and if people even read it, i hope though that people share there stories most importantly.
